People who spend all day in niche websites, usually are more informed, and most have higher incomes. They also get tons of traffic. So what I have done and what is working well, is I find something I know about, say politics. I would set up my info on a site that talks about politics. Now most of these sites, give you the capability to link your username to your site. Take advantage of this. Just make sure you know what you're talking about to begin with. With this method, you're building trust with people who share similiar issues and concerns. This is the equivical "in" everyone is looking for. Also, with this method, people are more likely to approach you when they know you aren't trying to sell them something.
Just don't start blogging on a site that is all about Canadian Politics and you have no idea, because you will damage your rep and the rep of your company and get labeled a Phiser. On one of these sites, they get over a 100,000 hits a day, and I get 400.
