Hi Guys,

I have had my Blog for some time and this year I have concentrated on posting in my blog on a regular bases. A minimum of once a week, but fail to do that sometimes. However I have put the time and energy into some good articles and am not seeing the results I would like to have.

I ping with Technoratti and basicly thats it and use tags as well. I have seen my blogspot on the first page of Google search a few times but my traffic doesn't seem to be that great for the effort I put into it.

Maybe I should be doing more pinging to different directories as well but the time it takes limits me.

Just feel like I'm waisting time for the results I'm getting. Business is great but it's not due to Blog traffic.

Geno,

You've limited yourself by just using Technorati for pinging....a lot less visibility and opportunity for SE spidering.  Technorati pings only technorati.  You need to use a multi-directory pinging service like Pingoat.  That way multiple directories are "pinged" giving you more visibility and more SE spidering opportunities.

You can set up Pingoat 1 time and it'll automatically ping soemthing like 30 directories with 1 click.  Fast and simple.

You also need to post more than 1 time a week....preferably 3 or more.  Frequency is also key ... post-ping-tag-repeat.  I post every Mon, Wed, and Fri myslef.

Remember too that the contents of your post need to have key words that your niche market are searching for on the web (e.g. Googling for XXX).  Make sure your post title as solid key words AND your first paragraph (which becomes the "post" description in the SE listing) PLUS make sure your site "description has solid search able key words too.

Be sure to have text links in some of your article posts too.  The SE spiders will also spider the websites in those links.  That helps the listing of those sites and the traffic to them too.

Don't forget that your site layout is also key.  Can visitors find "info" easily besides what is in your articles?  If they can't or don't "find" and "click" on stuff outside of your articles you need to work on that.  For example a "Resource" listing in your side bar menu?  Some highly visible eye attracting banner buttons?  Look at these 2 blogs for some ideas if you'd like:

http://Best-MLM-Resources.blogspot.com

http://Broadband-Nation.blogspot.com

I recommend you submit some of the articles you post to your blog to article directories too.  Like ezinearticles.com.  Change the wording a little so they aren't 100% alike....and put your blog url in your author bio/sig box.  This will get you back links to your blog, some traffic to your blog from readers of those articles (wherever they end up being published), and your articles will also get listed in the search engines.

I'm getting a minimum of 100+ visitors a day to each of my blogs .... and steady sales/sign-ups from that traffic.  Just by doing all of the above.

God Bless,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the feed back. I've been to your blog several times in the past. Great stuff.

Just found out about pingoat and will start using it for sure. Thanks for putting the tip to put in text url http://g255.blogspot.com in my articles. I've been using hyperlinks.

Michael offers great advice. Also do not forget social bookmarking. Join OnlyWire.com and the 20+ directories in it. Then you can bookmark one post to all of them with one click. This is quick and it works.

Hi Geno -

Do you have a linux website server? If you do and also have cPanel you need to spend some time looking at AwStats which is a tool which will tell you who is coming to your site, when and from where, etc. A ton of good info with this tool.

Philip,

Read "The Authority Black Book" to understand how to use blogging and Web 2.0 strategies to clean up on traffic and make more sales. It is a free download and you can Google search for it.

Hey,

The information given above is great and I would definitley follow it to the letter.

Just to add a couple things you can do also:

1. Ping at http://www.Pingomatic.com as well (20+ engines pinged simultaneously)
2. Make sure if you are blogging for profit that you carefully choose 2-3 keywords or keyword phrases that you want to dominate and write specifically to these keywords. Use them throughout your text without spamming the copy.
3. Be sure to submit your blog directly to google for indexing at
[size=http://www.google.com/addurl/
]4. Remember you want to set up an easy way for your visitors to add your RSS Feed to THEIR respective home pages (My Yahoo, My MSN, MyGmail, etc.). The main way that bloggers use to accomplish this is through the use of their RSS Feed buttons. [size=http://www.toprankresults.com/tools/button-maker.php]

Hope this help and all the best with your blogging!

Pingoat works well, but has been having major problems recently and has been down for maintenance for quite a while.  Ping-o-matic works decently enough.

I also use Onlywire.com to bookmark my blog posts.  Its is similar to pinging, but it bookmarks around 20 social bookmarking sites at the same time.  Very usefull.
