While reading through some training material, I learned about placing adsense into my blog.

Based on this reading, I went on ahead and added adsense to both of my blogs. I was surprised that this was not difficult to do.  My question is, will this actually do anything for my blog.

I am not really selling anything on my blog. One of my blogs is about my experiences in the network marketing business.  The other one discusses the different network marketing methods; such as SEOs, email marketing, screen videos and YouTube, etc.

Is anybody benefiting from using adsense. I hear that there are many people making money off it, but most seem to be selling something or in the affiliate programs?  What do you think?  Does anyone have any suggestions on using adsense?

Adsense won't do anything for your blog .... as in more traffic etc.  It's not "seen" by the SEs in that way.

The only real benefit is any sales from the adsense ads.  The adsense "ads" are supposed to automatically "match" to the theme of your blog so as to capture interest from your "targeted" visitors interested in that subject area.

In other words ... Adsense is just a way to monetize your blog regardless of it's theme and purpose.

God Bless,

Michael

Ok, thanks FreedomFire.  I am seeing that it is matching the theme of my blogs.  I also assumed that it would not bring more traffic.  I was just curious as to what is the benefit of adsense.

I guess it is best to find a niche area for your blog, like tennis, or art, or something in music.  Have the content match your theme and add adsense. The theme of both of my blogs is network marketing; not exactly a niche market.  Already too many people populating this area, but it matches what my company represents. But, maybe if I did something for coffee, which is one of our streams of income.  That is a good subject to talk about.

Anyway, thanks FreedomFire.

Hi work2bfree,

Yes, focusing on a smaller niche like coffee would definitely be more beneficial than blogging about something as vast and general as Network Marketing itself. By focusing on a smaller niche you should be able to get a lot more traffic from the search engines since there's less competition, so to speak.

You can even set up a blog for each of your income streams. For example, if one of your income streams is coffee, then do a coffee-related blog. And if another one is candles, do a candle-related blog. You'll get more search engine traffic, plus, the traffic you do get will be much more targeted...which should result in higher sales percentages. ;)

Shine on,
Aar:Dn

I am going to change one of my blogs this weekend.  It may take some work because the theme of one of my blogs, the one that discusses my experiences in network marketing, is coffee.  It is called Lawren's Coffee Breakz.  The other one is called Lawren's Network Marketing Blog.  So, I am going to have to do a lot of switching around. But, I will get it done.

I think coffee will be a good topic to cover. I have a lot of material on that.  I can't wait to get started.

Thank you Aaron.

You're very welcome Lawren. I just took a peak at your blog and it looks really good!:) I like your header image. One thing I do notice though is that your 468x60 AdSense ad at the bottom is shifted to the left-hand side of the page and is breaking out of the layout. You should be able to fix that by editing the HTML and using the HTML center tag to center the ad. Either that or move it up some in the layout.

Anyway, looks real good! And I agree that coffee will be a good topic to work on, especially if you already have a lot of material on it. Should make it easy to get things rolling with your blog. Best of luck!

Shine on,
Aar:Dn

Thank you so much Aaron.  I had noticed the problem with the adsense at the bottom too.  Just have not had the time to take care of it yet.   I will tryi to work on it this weekend, it time permits.

Well i have the same doubt. I have a blog about compuers. I have placed adsense in it and have got quite an amount in it. But am worried that most of my friends say that my account would be banned becuase of illegal clicks. But i have got 80% of my traffic from my home country and 20% from US. But am serious about making money from it. They also say that my CTR should be less than 5%. I have got CTR as 6%.

Is this right? And i need your helps in getting more money from my blog.

If you've set up your blog as a resource center or hub then adsense can enhance your visitors experience as well as making some additional revenue for you. In today's Web 2.0 environment, optimising  visitor experience should be near the top of your list of priorities.

However, if your blog is set up to promote your product, service or business opportunity, you could find that adsense is placing ads from competitors on your site. This of course will lead to loss of business when visitors click on the adsense ads.

Just to let you know Aaron, I did fix that problem with the adsense at the bottom of my blogs.  Thank you for your suggestion.

I am noticing that adsense does place ads on my site that will hurt my business.  I may end up removing adsense from my one or both of my blogs.  I shall wait and see.  It is still new.

I have a friend that we like to call the adsense queen.  She makes a lot of money with it.  And she does very well with her blogs but she is also in Social Networking sites that allow adsense on your profile which also helps.

Hey Sue, I have seen those sites that allow adsense.  There are also forums that allow you to input your adsense.  I am still learning about adsense myself.  I have two blogs and both have adsense advertisments on them.

One of the things about using adsense on a web site or a blog is that you have to know how to market them in order to get enough visibility.  Without the visibility and interests from onlookers, your adsense ads will not get noticed.

It's true, there's an art to getting people to click on those ads.  I have one blog that gets several hundred hits a day.  I put Adsense on that thinking that I might earn a tidy little amount over time.  But after several months I've still only made 4 dollars!

Unless you really get into all the tips and tricks for maximising your ad-clicks, and have huge traffic coming to your blog you will make very little money from Adsense, I think.

Hello Matthemattrix,

I have heard of people doing very well with their adsense.  One guy has a website that focuses on tools and he is making over 120,000 a year.  He is in his 60's.

I have the adsense but I didn't really have any hopes of getting anywhere with it.  I did it with hopes that it would.

In any event, I am basically just trying to get my blog indexed so that it at least makes the first page of Google, Yahoo, MSN, and any other search engine that may exist.

Guys,

For various reasons, Adsense earnings are decreasing across the board. Relying on Adsense alone to monetize your blog is just silly. Besides, you need massive traffic anyway to make any coinage whatsoever from Adsense, so if you only get a measly one or two thousand UVs per day it's not even worth considering. You're better off going with some kind of focused affiliate deal - or just write better content and actually learn som SEO so that people start coming to your site.

Adsense is not a great bet right now for anyone, and certainly not for those who struggle to get traffic.

I agree Roberto.  Like I said, I have adsense, but I am not really focused on getting anything out of it.

I have heard that those who are doing well actually have many, many more websites that help their adsense campaign.  A friend of mine explained it to me how the process of using a multitude of websites works, but I can't recall all of the details of how people who are successful with the adsense are making it work for them. All I can say is that it is way too complicated and not even worth my time.
