Yeah, I just read throught that post and I believe that the most
important part of a blog is content and I always make my post
very personal and unique. You could say that it almost becomes
a life story of myself.
This way monetizing through my blog becomes easier as I never
worry about cramming my blog space with lots of affiliate links
and Adsense stuff in there.

AddThis is really excellent for blogs as well. It helps your readers easily subscribe to your feeds and promote your blog posts, website content, etc.
It lets you use just one button for ALL of the feed readers and social bookmarking services out there. No more worrying about adding multiple buttons and chicklets to your blog. This saves you a lot of blog real-estate and reduces clutter and reader confusion. It has numerous tracking statistics and is of course free.
I covered the benefits and specifics of it on my blog recently. It's gotten a lot of attention in the blogosphere lately and is well worth implementing.

Hi Vern,
Sorry I didn't get around to answering your question until now - I haven't been on the forum for a few days.
AddThis goes beyond RSS and lets your readers easily bookmark (to all the social bookmarking services) your blog or even individual posts automatically (depending how you set it up) with just one button. For example, the Bookmark button would take them to a page like this which would allow them add a specific post to Digg, Furl, Del.icio.us, etc. It helps your readers easily promote your content.
Basically, it cuts down on having to use individual buttons for each of these social bookmarking services. Note: If use Blogger you have to be using the New Blogger upgraded template in order for it to gather individual post page information properly.
Anyway, here's a video covering the basics on it. Hope that helps! All in all, it's an excellent addition to FeedBurner, which I think is also priceless.

You do 4 things Randy:
1. Go to each search engine and follow the "submit new site" link then submit the url for your blog. Stick to Google, Yahoo, MSN.com, and DMOZ. No other search engines are worth it really.
2. Go to each search engine per above and submit the site feed url for your blog. Yahoo specificly encourages you to do this. Every time you post new content to your blog the site feed will automatically update. The SEs see new content added and will respider your site feed AND your blog.
3. Use a ping service such as pingoat.com and "ping" every time you post new content to your blog. A ping service will automatically "ping" blog engines and directories telling those communities you've added new content.
4. Submit the individual post page for each new post you add to your blog to Tag services like furl, digg, de.lirio.us, etc. This will "notify" those social bookmark communities as well as create keyword targeted "pages" (tags) which the SEs will pick up and list.
There's lots of info on how to do the above in the sites mentioned above....as well as this thread and other threads in this Blog Marketing discussion board.

I wanted to give you all a heads up about a product Sean Wu recently released. It's a wordpress plugin that will automatically add your blog posts to multiple bookmarking sites. [note: I haven't tried it because I use blogger....if anyone does use it let us know how it goes here.]

It looks like it has some neat features......for example:
1) It submits your new blog posts as it's posted to your blog
2) It requires no intervention on your part to submit your sites. Just post to your blog as normal and it will add the tags and the links back to your post.
3) It deters spamming. Honestly what good is a piece of software that just dumps all of your urls into a bookmarking site at once? Even if you have good content, you are spamming and it will be noticed. Abuse!
This plugin doesn't submit hundreds of pages of your site to bookmarking sites. I"m sure you will agree that this is just plain spam and you won't get much benefit from it.
I really think this tool is needed as people are going towards abusing T&P and social bookmarking and they need to realize that if you really want long term traffic, play by the rules: Provide quality content and submit that content to the SB sites like a normal human!
You don't have to dump thousands of urls into an account in a day. The smart way to stay white hat is just to go wide. Have a few hundred accounts and a few hundred quality blogs. Submit one post to each account a day. So simple and much more effective.
This plugin was created to manage "tagging" hands free. When your blog posting software posts an article to your blog, the plugin does it's thing without you and then just emails you a report when done.
Here are some other VERY POWERFUL features:
1) You have the option to Use pre-set tags for all blog posts. If you have a niche blog that uses similar tags each post, now you can specify the tags ahead of time, and then each time you post the plugin will automatically grab X number of tags and use those to bookmark your post. This is truly hands free bookmarking!
2) Instead adding your post to all bookmarking sites each time you add a blog post, you can now choose to add the blog post to X number of random bookmarking sites. If you specify 2, then the plugin will randomly select 2 of your bookmarking sites and add the post to those sites only. Next time you post, it will choose another 2 random sites.
3) Randomly select X number of keywords to post to your bookmarking site. Instead of posting all tags to your bookmarking sites, the plugin now allows you to choose a random number of tags to use when bookmarking your posts.
4) When using option #3, the plugin will choose a different set of random tags to add to each bookmarking site!
5) Option to automatically convert your tags to Technorati Links. No need for a separate plugin to do this.
If you need a hands-free, automatic bookmarking tool, I'd give this a try.

Hi all!
I got up this morning ready to begin a blog, then started reading through this thread - yikes!! So much information in this one thread! I reckon I could spend a few years just reading about this one topic...so perhaps I should just jump in and learn as I go. Seriously, though, the resources you have all posted are amazing and I wish I did have time to go through them all. I visited the Problogger site and am thinking perhaps I'll just follow his recommendations. I'm still finding this whole venture overwhelming - so much to learn and do! Thanks to everyone for the info...you all rock!
