Hi klc23mom,

I've been marketing online for several years now, and I remember what you feel like right now...being frustrated and trying to figure out what to do on a limited budget.

Take it from me, although it's taken me and my internet marketing team several years to figure out, the #1 skill is simply driving massive amounts of targeted traffic to your website in order to build your list (At little or no cost when you are starting out!).

Establishing and maintaining your online credibility or 'reputation' is extremely important as well using various strategies like Article Marketing.

Posting in forums like these, and asking for help is a good way to get a jumpstart as well.

I hope this helps. Driving massive amounts of targeted traffic to your website at little or no cost is my area of expertise, so feel free to contact me anytime if you need more help! :)

Yours in success,

Cedric

One thing I found out in my years of learning internet marketing is that classified advertising has very little if no response whatsoever!  What usually happens is you place an ad on several different sites and you start getting a bunch of spam emails from people trying to cross market their sites to you, or you get nothing at all.  When people do search terms in the search engine they are not looking to find the information on a classified site.  They usually go to sites that have the specific information on what they are looking for.  This is why you usually won't have luck with classifieds.

Hi klc23mom,

What you might find better success with, if you persist, is posting free classifieds online with local newspapers. Tease the reader into visiting your website.

It may not bring volumes of traffic, but it will bring some.

I have to agree with dynamic.  Advertising is one thing, but advertising to your target market is another thing.  Generic classifieds ads aren't going to have a big impression, one, because you just don't have everyone looking for the same thing and two, the general population is skeptical.

If you don't have advertising dollars, I'd still use the Internet of course, but perhaps blogging, getting people to endorse you and your products, getting listed with MLM portals, etc. is the way to go.

Hi Klc23mom,

I have tried classified ads before and my results were dismal.  One thing that happens is a lot of people contacted me about their opportunity, which of course I wasn't interested in.

There are about a zillion things you can do on the internet.  Some work and some don't.

Hang in there.

Thanks for everyone's replies, this was alot of help, now I don't have to waste my money or time.  Thank you so much.  I'm hoping to be hired as an independant contractor with a company that I can work at home taking phone calls and make a little money to put into my business which is my baby.  I built my website from scratch (just a template) so it's important to me and I can't wait to see it succeed and your feedback means the world to me.

Hi Kristen,

I'm just beginning to get the hang of things with internet marketing.  Traffic Exchanges seem to be a good place to start and if using the free category, it is time consuming to get the credits needed.  I have joined several traffic exchanges, plus forums and just posted my first blog yesterday.  Adding to a blog a few times a week and also writing articles I think you can do at no cost.

I know it's time consuming to get these things done when one is working on a shoe string but as you begin to see success you will then have some cash to inject back into the business and it will grow from there.   Just don't give up !!

Cheers, Maggie

Thanks Maggie.  Yeah, I have posted on two different traffic exchanges.  I'm not sure quite how the credits really work though, it's a little confusing.

Did you know there are websites that offer free classified ad postings? If you visit http://www.freetampabay.com, under the other cities link, you can pick the closest city to yourself and go to the classifieds section and place your ads, as many as you would like, for free. Plus, not only does this save you time, but it saves you money because it's absolutely free! I bet you will love it just as much as I do. It's a wonderful resource to place your ads in or to even promote your business. Check the site out, it could help you a lot with your classifieds. Hope this helps!:)

A lot of the key to advertising is knowing what to put in your ad.

you need an ad that makes people curious enough to want to visit your site, and fill out your lead capture form.

I usually give someone several things they can do to solve a problem, or something that will make them curious.

For example: On my site, I have the 7 warning signs of a "biz-opp addict"

1.) You have been in 2 or more different network marketing or mlm companies in one year, and did not make any money in either one.

2.) You always spend more money than you make.

3.) You've become addicted to buying and cold calling leads.

4.) You bought a ton of e-books and programs and didn't do anything with any of them.

5.) You pawned something valuable to you so you could buy leads or go to a seminar.

It's harder to do this in a small ad, but you get the idea. It also depends on how targeted the ad is too. You might even include the name of the market you are targeting in the ad.

like :Networkers, are you a "Biz-Opp Addict?" Find out the 7 warning signs here.

...or something like that.

You always want your ads to make people curious, but you want your web site to separate the curious from the serious.

I hope that helps.

Tim

What experience have you had with any of these free advertising methods:
TrafficSwarm, TrafficPods, Hitpulse, etc.?

I just heard about these in another thread but the person that mentioned them didn't really have any experience with them.

I appreciate any information that you might have.

Most Sincerely,
Karen

I recommend you use the following resources to market your site and yourself:
  • Traffic Swarm
  • Herculist
  • AuoSyrfPro
  • Adland Pro
  • Google Ad Words
  • Yahoo Paid Search Marketing
When you are marketing online, the key is to have the same curiosity creating message that you repeat over and over and over so you brand yourself as an expert who can and will help people solve problems and reach their goals.

I do this by writing articles, blogging and participating in forums.

I also network through Direct Matches, Adland Pro and MySpace.  I contact and email at least one hundred new people every day.  I get at least five or six people who call me every week to ask for help.

I get to know them and ask questions about them, their goals and businesses.  If it is appropriate and a solution they see, I then introduce them to a simple duplicable system for generating prospects and paying for advertising.

My counsel is do not put all of your eggs in one basket.  Learn, master and use at lest four or five reaching out methods.

I hope this helps.

Karen,

You are very welcome.

With Traffic Swarm, you need to work it consistently every day to maintain your credits.  The more credits you earn, the more your ads rotate.

You will also do well to evaluate your ads daily for the first few weeks, delete the non-performers and keep working your headlines.  You need headlines with high emotional value to get people to click.

As an upgrafed pro level member, you will get 2500 credits each month.

I have 30 ads that get about 500 hits a day.  I surf Traffic Swarm for at least 45 minutes every day.

Jon :)

Jon,

I've signed up with TrafficSwarm. You said that the more credits you earn the more your ads rotate. How many credits does it take to get my ad to rotate more? If I set my credit cap higher will it cause my ads to rotate more?

I don't believe I am totally understanding this. I did set up my start page and I do surf for credits.

I'm just not sure I understand how to get my ad to rotate more.

Thanks for your information.

-Karen

Hi Karen,

I have also just started with Traffic Swarm. I am getting 2-4 hits on my site daily and I have just been a member for two weeks. Stay with it and use some other resources to market your site.

Good luck.

Jon,

Are all 30 ads for the same business and same website?

Karen,

Yes they are.  I have all my ads direct to a generic training site that I use to teach people how to market and network online.

Here are the key things to do with Traffic Swarm
