You can generate traffic for free, but instead of spending money, you are spending time. Traffic Swarm is good, but you should maintain over 1000 credits to have decent results. Paying money to advertise your business takes much less time, but if you don't have the money, spend the necessary time on the free advertising until you have results, than put that money into advertising. I agree that Traffic Swarm can work if you have strong headlines and you surf daily. You need to check your ads daily. With a pro level membership, you get 2500 new credits every month and an unlimited number of ads.
Traffic Exchanges are only one way to market online.
Other free or low cost ways that search engines will pick up are:
- Write and submit original articles
- Blog
- Participate in at least five to ten forums and post daily
- AdlandPro
I write and submit at least three articles a week and use the same sig file each time. They show up all over the place: in search engines, on other peoples blogs and ezines. It is also a great way to brand yourself as an expert, rather than just another "run of the mill" network marketer trying to sell a product or just get sign ups.

I too write several articles a week. I use Article Marketer. In fact, I have several people call me that are now my members and this is how they found me, through my articles. It's a great advertising resource. I also like 1MinuteAds and USFreeads. TS has also been good for me, but you need to regularly check your ads and edit them.

I do, jon. I like TS too. I get quite a bit of "traffic" from TS. How about you? I also regularly update my blogs. that's another good way to get traffic. I'm sure you already know that. lol

Okay,
For those of you that use TrafficSwarm. Do you get many sign ups from them? My traffic is building to my site. I used to only get 1 or 2 hits a day. I am not getting between 13 and 17 hits a day but not very many of them are actually looking around the site.
Mostly they are just fulfilling their personal quotas of clicking on sites.
I have found that you need to use all 10 of your free ads. The more ads, the more hits. Also continue to click to add points. That has actually been pretty easy. I work at a computer all day so I just keep TrafficSwarm up in the background and go to it and click.

I have some good luck with TS. Some months better than others. I do use all 10, and constantly change my ads. (When I say constantly, usually every 2weeks.) I think that is important, because you do see some of the same ads quite a bit!

Karen,
I really like TS. I go highly recommend moving to the pro level for $30 per month. You get 2500 credits added to your account each month and you can run unlimited ads.
I use TS for about 30-40 minutes per day and generate around 250 credits per day. That means 7500 potential clicks and visitors to my site each month...and that's not counting the 2500 they give me!
It works well for me, but again, it has been my experience that you need 25-30 ads and you need to make it a part of your daily routine to click ads for at least a half hour. Your hits WILL go up a lot.
To echo some of the posters from above, it's just one of many ways to drive traffic to your site, but I know it's effective, so I give it a half hour slot each day.

and I'd sure say that you're
a real disciplined person.
I just gave up surfing on it
because I never got around
to work on it.
So, right at this moment I'm
more focused on Myspace,
article marketing and also
PPC. Plus, a little bit of forums.
Interesting when you mentioned
about emaling to at least a hundred
people in myspace.

I am able to rack up quite a few credits each day because I just leave the TrafficSwarm window up in the background while I'm checking emails, posting on forums,etc.. I just keep going back clicking and then back to work on whatever project I'm on at the moment. It really adds up.

I actually average 2 sign-ups per day into my free area where people can have a look at the information and decide if they want to be a part of what I offer. I am very new at this (1 week with TS), but from speaking to my upline and am learning that on average I will get about 2-3 per week that will come in to my program.
There's been a lot of talk about traffic exchanges and which ones work and which ones don't, so I decided to take this morning and do some research for everyone.
If you don't already know, there is a site called Alexa.com where you can type in any web address and it will tell all sorts of info about that particular website, including it's traffic ranking. Example: Google ranks number 3, Ebay ranks number 19, Craigslist ranks number 43, so the more hits a site gets the higher it's ranked.
So I went out and found about 45 different traffic exchange sites and checked out every single one on Alexa.com to see where they rank.
The following sites are by far the most visited. The rest of the sites I started with had rankings around 40,000 all the way up to 300,000, so I didn't even include them, because there is a large list of exchanges that get much, much better traffic.
I have included the name of the site followed by their traffic rank. These are the very best traffic sites according to visits/hits, etc....
So without further ado, here is the list:

Their ranking is growing by between 3000-4000 per 3 month period, so they may be worth watching. The reason I personally included them is because they use humor and funny videos and we all know how that stuff is catchy and 'viral', so it could be worth using.

So are you saying the lower the number the better, seen as TS has the lowest number?
To get 2 or 3 sign ups a week. How much time per day do you spend on TS to get that result?

Zoe,
You do need to surf consistently to keep your credits up so your ads will rotate.
More important, though, are your headlines An effective healdine will have a high emotional marketing value, meaning it arouses enough curiosity so the reader will click on your ad and then take action. Think of it much like the headlines in a newspaper and what would make you want to read a story.
You can use http://www.freeheadlinecreator.com to create hundreds of headlines, then test them for their EMV at http://www.aminstitute.com. You want an EMV of 80 or higher.
Next, you must test your ads. Take a screen shot late at night for five straight days and look at how many views their were. You also need to track your hits. I use http://www.adminder.com to track mine. They give you a 30 day free trial.
After five days, you will know which ads get alot of views and which are your stinkers. Delete the stinkers or tweak the headlines and keep surfing.
P.S. If you find you do not have time to surf, hire a student to surf!
