If you are marketing online, I would like to know which traffic generation technique proved itself to be the most efficient.
Is it through articles, blogs, forums or viral reports etc?
Or are paid methods like PPC, Ezine ads and Google Adwords etc working better for you?
Or; are you using some new freaky little known technique like viral inviter??
Until now I got the best convertion rates from articles but as you know it can be quite time consuming...
So, what is the fastest, most effective way to generate traffic? And what tips and insights can you share about it?
I appreciate your sharing
Nicola Silva

back in the day SEO was pretty big but kinda expensive at the same time but with the help of social networking it's a whole lot easier and cheaper(mostly free). Web 2.0 is taking over the marketing game. Marketing w/ video is even better because today many ppl want to see as well as read what a person is talking about. it is really helping me in my business.

Articles have been generating me the most traffic. I write and submit 2 weekly then social bookmark them. This brings in quite some traffic.

I would have to say that Forums and Viral Marketing are the top two for me. Social Networking would be a close third. Giving away practical and useful info packed free reports, ebooks etc. that are viral in nature work really well most of the time.
You just have to try and test a number of things to find out what will work for your particular situation. Keep what works and get rid of the rest.
In today's internet marketing arena you must constantly try new promotional and advertising methods to stay alive because of all the competition that's out there.
You have to stay on top of your game or you will lose the game. It's that simple. If you get complacent your business will collapse and so will your income along with it.
Never, never think that you have arrived - that you have it all figured out because as soon as you do the rug will be yanked out from under you so fast it will make your head spin.
The internet changes on a daily basis and so does the marketplace. To be successful you must keep yourself educated as to what's going on out there.
When you find something that generates good traffic flow, take what you learned and implement and test it in your business. Tweak it and experiment with it until you perfect it.

| I have found sites like squidoo have also been a great traffic source although you do need to take some time to create your content and keep it fresh.

Blogs are my primary strategy. But I support them with articles, not so much to get traffic from them but to boost the SEO.

There are no real fast methods of generating traffic, anyone who states that there is, are probably spamming an affiliate link.
The answer to your question is all of those mentioned, but they all take time to implement. Being knowledgable in your subject and giving advice to others will generate trust.
Sprite 12 is quite correct ~ move into web2.0, it is the future.

My clients and myself would agree that advertising to sites like Craigslist, Backpage and Kijiji deliver enormous amounts of traffic.
I started mass posting about 2 years ago, and I had so many people contact me about showing them how to post that many ads.
I offered them my services, but just couldn't devote the time to teach. It takes way too long to learn how to post 1000 ads a day on these sites, and to take the time to do that would be a whole other job!
Anyway, this is the best way I get my leads, or sales, along with SEO.

| I agree with web2genie you should not skip out any methods as the quality of the traffic is what you are looking for and that will come through all methods. Last edited on Fri Oct 10th, 2008 10:47 am by inpire2008

Folks, he has it right. If it sounds too good to be true, it generally (read that ALMOST ALWAYS) is. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your marketing across different media (print, internet, radio, television, screenvision, etc), and within each as well (coupons, ads, requests for information, newsletters, articles, trial memberships, email lists, banner ads, SEO, adsense, sponsorship, etc, etc, etc).
Don't ignore one method simply because it is out of your comfort zone or outside your area of expertise.
Once you get started, word of mouth will become one of the most powerful influences on the growth and sustainability of your business, so keep that in mind when dealing with clients and making business decisions that will affect your customers.

As a 35-year veteran of both professional marketing and advertising, I have to agree.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Spread your efforts across multiple methods and be persistent.
Most important of all: TEST, TEST, TEST and TEST some more. Measure your results. Use tracking links. Monitor your results, check them against your successful sign-ups.
Over time you'll quickly discover which sources and methods are working best for you.
Discard the methods and sources that aren't producing a worthwhile response for you.
Focus on the ones that are producing good results.
But check to see which sources produce longer-lasting recruits as well... this can be a reliable indicator of which sources attract the highest-quality prospects.
It's about QUALITY, not quantity.
Network marketing is NOT a numbers game. Anyone who tells you otherwise simply doesn't get it and is blowing countless opportunities for success.

John has it right on the button ~ let's examine exactly what he is telling you!
Add this major factor to his meaning....Concentrate on what you already know - the area in which you are proficient enough to be a master of (in my case it is video marketing). SPREAD YOUR EFFORTS ACROSS MULTIPLE METHODS AND BE PERSISTENT ~ for example, instead of utilizing one website with a sales letter, and/or video presentation, use two or more site layouts with different aproaches to your sales (there are free hosting solutions available without forced ads).
Classified ads ~ try different pitches with each ad and TEST which site/ad is converting the best - then tweak to improve!
Seperate the freebie hunters from responsive buyers ~ Do the math yourself - if you have a list of 1000 freebie hunters with a conversion of 1% vs a list of just 500 responsive buyers converting to 3-4 or 5%, which list would you choose?
ITS ABOUT QUALITY NOT QUANTITY and I fully endorse John's wisdom!

| I always say ezine ads as a first response, or paid to click traffic. These are the two fastest ways to generate traffic and leads to me.

| I would stay away from those so called "free web traffic sites" the real cost of these sites is tons of spam they make you take in order to get the free traffic! I'm starting to do what alot you or forums and bloging.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinkinf of using free web site advertising but was suspicious that it could bring spam to my email. Now I see confirmation by what you say. Thanks

| There are so many ways to market, I agree with the fact that you can't limit yourself, to any one way, but if your budget is limited, social networking, forums, and blogs are all easy inexpensive ways to get started. But I would also add to market or "Brand" yourself, not your website or product. With all the competition, having people trust you and feel they know you is crucial. This is where WEB2.0 is becoming so popular. People can put a face to a weblink or OPT-IN page. They are more likely to click on your Landing-Page, after seeing a person associated with it.

I agree that driving traffic takes time and there isn't one quick way to do so.
The following is what works best for me:
- Blogging
- Commenting on Other Blogs
- Using Twitter and other social networks (Facebook and Myspace)
- Writing Articles
I am getting ready to expand into video based on what I have seen from others.
I would suggest that you get started creating your web of information that points back to you so that you brand yourself as an expert and draw people to you.
