Thanks for the resources. I will take a look at them?
Are there any tools you recommend to manage followers on Twitter? I am thinking, how do I figure out who is following me back and who is not on Twitter?
God Bless!

There's a ton of free training materials on twitter
and some of them screams out quality. And of course,

Managing your followers is always a challenge. I recommend social too and it does cost for the more advanced features but it is worth it. Also TwitChuck for $1 a month will monitor your account for spammers and get rid of them.

Huitter will let you unfollow people who aren't following you with the click of a button. Very simply done.
One reason why this is so important is that Twitter will limit how many people you can add if the ratios of followers to unfollowers is too high.
But, don't take it personally if people don't follow you. There are certain people who are looking for you who will be a perfect fit for your team.
All the BEST,
Jan

Twitter forced Huitter to shut down.
Twitter doesn't allow anymore bulk following or unfollowing.
I've found http://tweepi.com to be a good management site for dealing with your followers, identifying spammers and those not following you. A lot of different helpful tools there.
I've also created my own Twitter Resource Center with videos, articles and links to other online tools that I've used for managing Twitter.
No worries, no opt-ins, no banners, just free resource for the community

Everyone seems to like twitter these days which is a really cool way of staying in touch with your customers, friends & colleagues. Basically twitter has presented itself as a micro-blogging platform where a user can shout out anything they want to his ‘followers’ within the limit of 140 characters.
I have just started twittering since last month (*yes I’m pretty late starter!) because initially by looking at it for the very first time, I couldn’t find any ‘value’ that it has for my work & my social life.
Anyway the whole point of doing this post is to highlight some of the key monetization elements that an individual can explore using twitter. I assume you have the basic knowledge of what twitter is and how it works, so I will directly deep into some ideas which can make you earn money from your twitter.
 - Direct Advertisement – If a lot of people are following you in ‘twitter’ or in other words if you have a ‘wide reach’ to a large number of twitter users, you can probably look into direct advertisements for monetization.
- Recommendation – You can recommend a particular product or service on behalf of your advertisers & peruse your followers to take an ‘action’.
- Promotion – You can help your advertiser to promote a new product or service to your twitter followers.
It works pretty much like niche marketing because, say if you are an Internet Marketer, It is very likely that most of your followers in Twitter are also from the same area which is why they have ‘followed’ you in the first place.
Affiliate Marketing – I was listening to Shoemoney’s podcast yesterday where he talked about how affiliate marketing can actually be blended within Twitter. - Affiliate Links – If you are recommending a Product or a Service to your followers, you can always embed your affiliate link in your tweet. (e.g. Using a service like TinyUrl.com)
- Sales Pages – Instead of taking your followers to another website using your affiliate link, you might just want to promote your own product & services and sell them directly via your sales / landing page.
This is an area where every one can really look into. For instance say when one of your followers is asking for suggestion to choose a web host, you can always suggest him the best one from your experience but at the same time use your affiliate link which can earn you some quick cash.
Paid Review– This is pretty much like the direct advertisement, however the only difference would be, instead of blindly suggesting a product or a service to someone, you can actually do some ‘paid reviews’. - Product – You can do a paid review about a particular product (e.g. Internet Marketing software)
- Services – You can do a paid review about services that your advertiser offers. (E.g. SEO Services, Web Hosting Services etc.)
- People – You can also do a paid review about people. For instance, maybe you can review someone’s web design skills, or you may promote someone’s ‘twitter’ account for instance.
Sponsored Contest– An advertiser may want to run a contest via a popular twitter user to get feedback about his product & services or just to create some brand awareness. - Feedback – Example – “What New features would you like to see in Product X”?
- Brand Awareness– Example- “Describe product X in 140 Characters” or “Tell us why you like product X within 140 Characters”. The best answer can be given a cool prize sponsored by the advertiser.
Sponsored Advertisements– There isn’t must difference between this & the direct advertisement. However when I was creating the mind map, this ‘branch’ did somehow pop in, so have decided to include it. I guess the main difference would be that all the tweets which are actually sponsored advertisements can get a predefined prefix which will help your followers to identify them as ads. - Auto Ads – There can be a mechanism or a ‘new’ 3rd party service which can actually help you to distribute or Tweet the “Ads” when you are ‘not’ tweeting or say when you are idle. An ad interval can also be set so that your frequent sponsored ads don’t annoy your followers.
- Sponsored Actions– Well this might sound like a weird idea but, I feel that some aggressive marketers might like it. Example – “I Love #Google. Re-tweet this message and WIN yourself a GPhone”. Since a hash-tag is used, all the massages can be tracked using that and a lucky winner can actually be picked from the pool.
Some of you may think that all these ‘monetizing’ options can actually turn twitter into an ‘evil’ place and slowly reduce its value. But let’s face it, if you aren’t fully utilizing all the areas of twitter today, somebody else will – tomorrow. But of course you should set a ‘limit’ on how many ‘such tweets’’ you are going to do on a day, so that your followers still consider you as a valuable contact rather than a commercial junkie.
So that’s all folks, if you like my article, you are welcome to add me in your Twitter – @MikeSherratt09. Happy Twittering!

Free Twitter Software Programs for Managing Your Online Social Life
Just like in real life, your online social life will expand to fit any amount of time you give it. Twitter is the most notorious for this “productivity drain” – that’s why talented programmers have taken it upon themselves to create new ways to make managing your online social life even easier. Here are seven of the most popular software applications you can use to effortlessly keep up with Twitter (and other popular networks) even when you can’t be constantly connected.
Twitterberry –
If you have a Blackberry, you can use the free Twitterberry application to post directly to Twitter. You don’t even need to use SMS as Twitterberry accesses and posts tweets directly over the network. One potential downside is that posting and gathering tweets can be slower than what you’re used to. Twitter itself limits tweet requests to about 70 per hour and Twitterberry accesses them even less frequently than that, according to their FAQ.
Tweetie –
A superb application for managing your tweets from your iPhone, Tweetie integrates alerts (like Tweetbeep.com), a search function and multiple accounts so you can stay connected at all times. If you’re looking for alternative iPhone Twitter clients, you might also like to try Hahlo, Tweetsville or Twittelator Pro
SocialToo –
Keep your updates and followers synched across several social networks. In addition to Twitter, SocialToo also works with Facebook, Identi.ca, and RSS. You can also use it to create and submit surveys across your social network. SocialToo will auto-follow anyone who follows you but there is a filtering option available to prevent spammers from clogging up your Twitter timeline.
Twitterfox –
Use Firefox to manage your tweets and see when your friends have updated theirs through a small, unobtrusive notification button. If you’d rather not download a Twitter software program and use your browser to stay up-to-date on Twitter, Twitterfox is the program for you.
Tweet All About It –
Right up there with tweeting directly from Firefox is Tweet All about It, which lets you highlight and tweet any snippet of text using Internet Explorer or Firefox. The Firefox version will also show you how many characters you’ve highlighted. Tweet your snippet by right clicking and choosing Tweet All About It.
PowerTwitter –
A free Firefox extension that lets you do broad and user-based searches, as well as post inline links to YouTube, Flickr, TwitPic, Google Maps and more. Also shrinks and unwinds links – helpful for when you’re not sure where that TinyURL really goes. Works with #hashtags too.
EventBox –
One for the Mac users! Not free, but at $15, EventBox is a great way to keep all your social services in one place. Works with Twitter, Facebook, Google Reader, RSS and Flickr to name a few. View photos, see friend updates and post your Tweets from one sleek application
Just for Fun
So you’ve been using Twitter for a while – but just how much has it benefitted you? Here are a couple of interesting ways to see just how broad your reach is, or how much time you’ve wasted, with Twitter.
Twitalyzer –
See just how much influence you really have on Twitter. Measures your influence, signal-to-noise ratio, generosity, clout and more. See just how popular you are in the Twitterverse
Tweetwasters –
How much time do you spend on Twitter? According to Tweetwasters which calculates approximately how much time you spend on Twitter by the number of your tweets, @problogger has spent nearly 4 days of his life connected to Twitter!
If you have a great social networking software recommendation that helps you stay up to date on Twitter, why not post it in the comments below or something that’s certainly worth testing. Given Twitter’s non-pitch atmosphere, I’d recommend only trying it to encourage tweets about pure content or freebie giveaways, though.
What do you think? Feel free to test it out by tweeting about this blog post, which should definitely have mass Twitter appeal and does fit the pure content criteria.
You can see some of the changes I already made to my Twitter profile as a result (you can also connect with me on Twitter there).
