I've had a lot of success recently, once I've shifted my focus to attraction marketing - the idea essentially being to brand yourself as an expert in your area and encourage people to come to you based on the power of your leadership rather than on the specific system you're working.

I'm curious though, what others think about this?

Anyone have anything to share about what it means to them, or how it's helped?

Cheers!

Jim

One thing to note about what ISN'T attraction marketing:

Thanking someone for watching your video before they
have even watched it. LOL. I've made the mistake too.
Positions one as weak and needy. Don't do it! =)
(not saying the original poster did this, just
adding in a tip)

I think attraction marketing is a great concept
but it can get extremely annoying when you have
a lot of people claiming to be attraction marketing
experts when they haven't really developed much
content and value yet.

Just my random 2 cents.

Yea thats a great point, now everyones using the attraction marketing thing so its going to go out fo style quicker than most think because all of a sudden everyone is an expert. I think just being blunt and straight up with most people is the way to go, of course you want to sound like you know what your talking about and all that but it should come naturally if you really do.

I dont like the game of finding the newest ways to convince someone your where its at. I think you build the best kind of business when people formulate their ideas and make the decisions themselves. Your jsut supposed to provide the information, make it sound good, and facilitate an easy transition onto your team.

Andrew, having you heard of Frank Kern?
He is a extremely successful Internet Marketer
and I just have to add that his style of promoting
is absolute genius.

He comes to you completely blunt, telling you
EVERYTHING before you even step into his marketing
funnel. He lets you know that YES he might try to sell
you stuff down the line, BUT he provides VALUE before
he does it.

I think thats awesome, be yourself and who the heck cares
what others think of you. There are so many people in the
world that it doesn't matter, you're going to connect with
people regardless. (lol, unless you're marketing on video
in your underwear or spamming people)

No I havent heard of him, but I have  now and I am writing his name down as I type this. I will do a search for him and see what I can pick-up. I am learning a lot right now and I am afraid of learning too much and not doing, but thats not to say I shouldn't be a student of everything. I believe learning is a lifelong journey that never really ends.(and if it does, your finished)

I like his style already though! I just signed up my first person yesterday in my downline by being blunt and straightforward. But I have been at it a couple week so maybe its nothing to get excited about.

Thanks for the help I will certainly check him out.

Its just business my friend. Don't get too emotionally
attached to the outcome or your prospects are going
to detect that you're needing their sale.

Good job on the sign up, and many more to come!

What is your main method of prospecting?

I was prospected through craigslist so I use that and see the best results there. I also have a website thats more of a 'cookie cutter' than anything provided for people in my company for $20 a month but the conversion has been 0%.
I cant actually make my own landing page, well, I can but cannot add videos which hurts. Im in the process of buying my own domain and creating my own landing page.

But thats it really. I post in a few forums, I use craigslist and have my website that gets me maybe 2 or 3 unique visitors a day.

I've been in the networking business for 2 weeks, any advice you have would be greatly helpful.

Hi Andrew,

I know what you mean about creating your own landing page, were people could opt in to get your training.

I use http://www.blinkweb.com

You can add video to your page.

I use Aweber to build my list with.

With Aweber you can get the html code

and paste it in the blinkweb site you build

and you'll have and opt in spot on your

page. It's Free, with the exception of the

Aweber..thats about $17 per month.

It's a great place to start..if you want

a landing page with opt in and video

capabilities. Once you build this site you'll

get a URL. All you do is get a domain name and

forward it.

Hope this helps

Okay, here are some starter steps:

1. Educate yourself, join my opt in list from the link
below and start understanding the basics along with
some very powerful marketing methods. It's free.

2. Make landing page which entices prospect to
opt-in to your autoresponder (getresponse is good and
cheap, aweber is great too but can get expensive when
you accumulate a big subscriber list.)
Tip: Offer something of value, a special free report
or something. Look at my page as an example.

3. Build relationship with the list.
4. Sell info products to list and eventually
sign them into your main biz opportunity.

I know its a little overwhelming, but you just
need to dedicate time to educating yourself
before you waste a bunch of money on pointless
marketing (I spent $12,000 on useless
marketing in the beginning)

So, if you were going to make a list of methods to portray yourself as a true expert in your field, you would include things such as:

- Providing truly useful, informative content
- being completely straight up about everything that you are going to ask of your prospects
- Portraying yourself as confident and relaxed - as opposed to weak, needy, and broke by pursuing prospects too aggressively (or thanking them for things they haven't done ;)

What else would go on that list?

I agree in some respects with your comment, Andrew, regarding that everyone right now is trying to brand themselves as an expert and latch on to the "new" attraction marketing system, but then again, as you both have pointed out, it is often painfully apparent when the "expert" claim is false... so I would argue that attraction marketing in and of itself is neither a fad nor something new (seems that folks have understood that their personal credibility is the aspect that goes the farthest since the beginning of business), but rather that the focus now seems to be shifting into building stronger relationships with your customers, thereby keeping them because they have learned to value their interaction with you...

Just some additional thoughts on the matter... interesting topic in any event. :)

Jim

I am in the process of learning Attraction Marketing and definitely see the need for a person to know what they are talking about when they portray them self as being an expert in their field.  One thing that I noticed was not mentioned in previous posts is the fact that if you are marketing a physical product, it is most likely beneficial to yourself if you use your own product instead of just marketing it.  That way you can experience the advantages of your product first hand.

It's funny how starting basically last year people
pretty much hijacked "Attraction Marketing" and
are trying to take it to the extreme and it's becoming
LESS and LESS duplicable as they go...

Short story:

"Attraction Marketing" or more specifically:
Direct Response Marketing Strategy applied
to the home based business industry was NEVER
intended to be about "ME, ME, ME" or "Ego Marketing"
as it's being done and taught now...

It was just simply applying direct response marketing
copywriting and slight branding and positioning so that
your marketing did not look "cookie cutter"...

You quickly put up some pics and told a bit about
your personal story and QUICKLY centered on YOUR
PROSPECT"S NEEDS...

"WIIFM" or "what's in it for me"

It's all about delivering the information and the content
that your target prospect is already looking for and using
that as a base to transition into your offer...

it's simple.

And it's NOT about "Ego marketing" or positioning
to be some "guru" that you're not... that's where I
see it being taken and that's why as automated as
some MLM or biz op systems are... most are still
failing to profit...

People need simple.
People need duplication.

My 2 cents,

Franco

I listened to an ebook today about Attraction Marketing and I think I am beginning to understand it more.  My problem is that I am starting a new business and don't know all that much about the product yet.  I certainly like the idea of setting myself apart from the cookie cutter websites of other affiliates.  So, how can I successfully do this?

Hi guys,

Interesting post.

I subscribe to several "email subscriptions" from network marketers & internet marketers.

What I have noticed of late is that I receive emails from these experts relating to "new" launches or JV exclusives - where they are sending information on behalf of another marketer.

Of course this becomes information overload and I hit delete button straight away.

What I do like though, there is a small percentage of marketers who do not even try to pitch their business, but just provide valuable information be it by webinar or conference call or email.

I suppose "patience" is the key here. Hard to do when we want everything yesterday.

Regards

When building your online business, you need to brand yourself instead of your business. Since there is so much hype, sales pitch and general marketing noise around, people will just skip over it all as they've already seen and heard it.

Stand out, make yourself heard by being different and people will start to notice and respect you. People no longer care about your business, they want value provided from you!

There is no point in using cold calling, business cards, hotel meetings or anything else that produces little or no results. Even if you are getting results, these strategies are so time consuming, well you may as well be in full time employment.

I'm going to discuss today just a few of the tools that top MLM producers are using to brand themselves and build huge downlines.

Post videos of yourself providing value to the community, offering advice and giving tips. Remember that you're not creating a video of yourself to promote your website, but to brand yourself.

The more that people see of you all around the internet, the more real you seem to them. So get yourself exposed on as many websites as you can, and people will take notice of this.

Finally, it's important to personally connect with people and build relationships. Discuss business ideas, talk about your experience, and generally network with each other 1 on 1. The idea is not to ask every single person to join your business, but to at least learn from the experience and connect with them.
