Welcome to the forum. The best way not to get scammed is to use common sense. You have heard it before--"If it sounds too good to be true, then it really is."
This is one of the many ways to protect yourself -- ask questions in forums like this one. Google the company and see what others are saying about it.
I am new to this site too. But not new to working from home. Fear of being Scammed is a major factor to peoples hesitance to get into a home based business opportunity. I was looking for a business opp and every time I googled the company there was a site or even 2 or 3 that said something about the company being a scam. I learned that when some people sign up for a MLM, Direct sales or network marketing program and don't know how to promote it and make it a business they become discouraged and scream "Scam".
Doing your own Due Diligence on a company before getting involved is to me a key factor in understanding what it takes to make it with the company. (ie; what they will do for you and what they expect you to do for them AND yourself.) To me finding a NICHE is the key. What types of things are YOU interested in?
Lets say that you are a fitness buff. Find a company that offers a product for health and fitness. People who you come in contact with at the gym or say bike races, runs etc. should have an interest in your product. So choose something that you can believe in right off rather then having to be sold on it first.
A quality product from a quality company is important so check them out. See if they are advertising, getting into the media and creating an interest in their company so you aren't trying to promote and sell a product that no ones heard of.
Getting long winded in know so I'll leave it at that...Hope it helps
